BERKLEY (CBS) Outside American Legion Post 121 in Berkley, the American flag and patriotism fly high, but whats happening inside is completely illegal.

You walk in the door, put your money on the bar and the gambling gets underway.

The I-Team went undercover and saw the action first hand. Its a game of chance called pull tabs and its played by patrons of the Legion post every day of the week.

Our hidden camera investigation clearly showed money being exchanged for $1 a play, with the bartender on duty dealing out the pull tab cards that have become big business at the little bar.

After four years of relentless gloom, Palm Beach Countys economy finally is seeing rays of sunshine.

In one sign that the clouds are parting, Palm Beach County taxable sales jumped to nearly $2 billion in February, a 10.9 percent increase from February 2011, according to the Florida Legislatures Office of Economic and Demographic Research.

It was the first double-digit increase since the early days of the housing bubble. However, the big jump comes with an asterisk: Take out Februarys extra day for leap year, and the year-over-year increase dwindles to 7.1 percent. But even that is the biggest bump in taxable sales since 2006.

COLUMBUS — A kind gesture turned into heartbreak for Zetha and Marvin Nelson.

Last year, the Columbus couple received an Easter lily from a local church. They kept the flowering plant in their home along with their cat, Kitty.

That proved to be a deadly combination.

The day after receiving the lily, Zetha discovered that Kitty chewed on some of the plant’s leaves. Despite the cat vomiting up what it had eaten, toxins in the plant were already taking its toll.

“He wouldn’t eat anything,” Zetha said.

She took Kitty to the Columbus Small Animal Hospital. He was treated there for a few days, but couldn’t be saved and had to be euthanized...
